What to Expect During Your Kingston Cake Smash Photo Shoot?
PART 1: Portrait Session
We’ll start with a short portrait session. I’ll photograph your baby wearing your chosen beautiful (and still clean) birthday outfit.
PART 2: The Cake Smash
The main event! Your little one will be presented with their very own 1st birthday cake. Some babies dive right in, while others take a little time to get there, they probably think: really mum, can I eat that cake all by myself?
PART 3: Splash Time
After the messy fun, we’ll end with a warm bath splash session to clean up and capture more adorable smiles.

Session Fee
A session fee of £89 is required at the time of booking to secure your session. This fee does not include any prints or digital images.
It covers the photoshoot itself and includes a delicious semi naked cake, studio time (1 hour), use of studio props, Giselle’s expertise in taking and enhancing your images for your viewing appointment.

Where will my Cake Smash Photoshoot take place?
Your Cake Smash photoshoot will take place at my home studio in New Malden, Kingston Upon Thames. Very near New Malden Station, perfect location for people coming from London & Surrey.
How much does a Cake smash Photoshoot cost?
A £89 booking fee secures your session. A few weeks after the photoshoot, at your viewing appointment, you choose the Collection you’d like to buy, starting at £249. See my Cake Smash Collections HERE.
Do you provide the cake? And what happens to the leftover cake?
Yes, I’d like to take the stress away from you, your session fee includes a delicious semi-naked cake made by a talented local baker. You must inform me of any allergies your child may have.
When should I schedule a cake smash photoshoot for my baby?
You could do it before or after your baby’s birthday. If you’d like to use the photos on birthday invitations, thank you cards or to display at their party, you must book a date around 6-8 weeks before the event. This will allow enough time for editing and ordering. Set up a reminder in your calendar when your little one is around 9 months old and get in touch to book your cake smash session well in advance.
Can the rest of the family be included on the photo session?
Sure, we can include the immediate family members for a couple of shots right at the beginning, but remember, the star of the shoot is the birthday boy/girl. Due to limited space, I can only accommodate a family of 5, max. I strongly advise to take other siblings for a walk or to be collected by a friend/relative after, as they could get bored or even a bit jealous when seeing their little sibling getting lots of attention (and also cake).
How do I pick the setting for my cake smash photo session?
Once your booking is official, we’ll plan your Cake Smash setting together. I typically aim for a minimalist look to create timeless pics, adding a pop of colour with props or decorations, bear in mind I tend not to use balloons. If you have a specific theme or prefer more colour, we can arrange that. If the theme or props are something I can reuse in the future, I will buy them. If they are unique to your session and won’t be useful for other clients, you will need to purchase them.
Common Concerns - Cake Smash Photo Session in Kingston
I’ve got twins; can they do their Cake Smash together?
Absolutely, but please let me know at the time you contact me, as I will need to adjust the fees to cover the extra costs associated with a double (or even triple) session to accommodate them.
Can I bring my own cake?
A semi naked cake is included I the price but if you would like to bring your own you are welcome to do so.
If your child has any allergies please let me know before hand. If you require a specific theme for the cake it can be quoted, too.
Does it really get messy?
Yes, and I can assure you it’s worthy. If your shoot includes the splash, your baby will get a nice warm bubble bath after the smash. If not, bring wipes and towels to give your baby a clean. As the session is done at my studio, I’ll be cleaning up after so nothing to worry about.
